Persistence and Other Kindku Poems
Persistence and Other Kindku Poems
Physical—Not Social—Distancing
Social distancing
steals our homes in solitude.
Mindless proponents
of an anti-social life
buried the notion.
Distance can’t hide the music
of companionship.
~Kindku Poetry Form inspired by Snowbound by John Greenleaf Whittier.
Together or Apart
Electronic waves—
a welcome interruption—
listening to friends
in quiet conversation
glancing through a screen
at pixelated nomads.
Together. Apart.

Persistence
Suffering entered my home
and threatened my heart.
Pain melted into numbness.
Our tears encountered
lives shattered. Changed forever.
Grief left hope renewed.
Commitment to try again.

These poems were written as a writing prompt from Auroras and Blossoms. “Be Free”. Isn’t it wonderful that we can be free to make friendships despite the social distancing/physical limitations on our connections? I love virtual meetings. I believe these extra relationships developed during the time of COVID have made me bolder in my faith! Be blessed! Be free!
