Words of Identity: Sketching and Doodling

I am an artist.

A writer.

A creative soul and eclectic mix of many professions and gifts learned through my lifetime.

I am a little of everything and yet a lot of Jesus.

Since I came to know the Lord in April of 1981, I have studied who God says I am in Christ Jesus. I continue to read the Holy Bible and learn the Scriptures and lean on the teaching of the Holy Spirit. I marvel standing in awe at how lovely His Word describes His people.

Oh, yes, there were those who had to suffer the consequences of their sins. Think David, a shepherd and a king, and Saul, later to be called Paul. There were those who miserably, but not surprisingly, had failed to identify with Christ and later fell to their knees to confess. Think Peter after Jesus told Him he would deny Jesus that day before the rooster would crow three times.

And then there’s me. How can I identify with Christ?

If we’ve failed at times to live up to our salvation and the glorious purpose in Christ, that doesn’t mean we aren’t saved, but that we are prone to sin and make mistakes when our eyes fall from God’s purpose for our lives.

But how marvelous that He still loves us and calls us His own.

So, as we read the Word of God, search for the words and terms and phrases of who we are in Christ Jesus. Try this artsy exercise to letter these truths on a fingerprint sketch.

Most of all, when we find these words of truth, of life, and of hope, let’s remember to praise Him for calling believers His children. I am so grateful I gave my life to Him nearly 40 years ago.

Thank you, Lord, for calling me Your own.

Have you ever wondered what your fingerprint looks like to God?

What does He say about you? Who does He say you are?
