With a background raising a special needs child, author Misty Phillips helps us walk victorious in the struggles common to living in a fallen world in her Bible study book called The Struggle is Real, But so is God. Trials should not surprise us, and this study helps us focus on the importance of taking time with God every day.

Author Misty Philips poses a profound question.

“Have you ever thought of your Christian life as a battle?”

Her conversational tone and style of writing speaks to readers as a friend. It reminds me of my experience during many of Kay Arthur Bible studies. And each week includes with a beautiful crafted prayer and moves to us to action complete with “declarations” and statements of truth personalized from Scripture and from her love for the Lord.

The author shares especially poignant personal accounts of her life with great vulnerability and passion. She includes quotes, Hebrew word descriptions, dictionary definitions, and excerpts from relevant author works to amplify the meaning and craft the impact of each lesson. I highly recommend this study and compare it to the depth and richness of Kay Arthur and Beth Moore studies.
