DAY 12. John 7:1-44.
How precious is the Word of the Lord! His Words are faithful, powerful, and life-changing.
In the book of John, chapter 7, I am most profoundly reminded that Jesus is the Christ. He is from God. He is God.
How wonderful!
How marvelous!
How utterly, and completely fulfilling to know that God and His Word are true and that from Him flow the life giving waters directly from the Father.
As I read and study the Scriptures, I constantly check my heart. Am I struggling today? Do I believe what I read? Why do believers doubt? I know I have had doubts.
But, when I dig into the words and find truths and noble proclamations of faith, my own faith is strengthened and bolstered to enable me to encourage others.
You see, Jesus doesn’t want us to live in fear and worry. He doesn’t want us to be concerned about our life or destiny. He wants us to know that our ultimate destiny is to know Eternal Life through Jesus Christ.
“He who believers in Me, from his innermost being shall flow rivers of living waters.”
and
“He who sent Me (Jesus) is true.”
I watched my doubts and fears vanish before my eyes, but I see them return when I don’t keep my mind on His truths. I know from His Word His time had not yet come as Jesus spoke to His disciples, yet I can identify with their questions and fears.
Imagine their faith exploding to the heavens as they exclaimed,
“This is the Christ! HE IS FROM GOD!”
Oh, what sweet joy and comfort they must have experienced. But they had sorrow and a time of mourning, too.
Today, we can gain insight into a deeper joy and comfort in the middle of struggles, and look to the days of Jesus. Even though He had not yet died, He knew the day would come.
And we know our days are not infinite. Our days will end. This is a fact for each and every human being. Our earthly bodies will decay or be snatched from this earth. But our eternal souls will live on. It’s a question of where will you spend eternity.
I pause.
I remember my mother, whose life seemed to have ended much too soon. I barely knew her as an adult. Tears still flow when I consider the loss, the sorrow—the days I could have spent getting to know her better. I remember thinking there would always be time. My selfish “me-centered” world crashed around my head, but I saw eternity in her eyes.
Eight months before she passed away, she had professed a faith in Jesus Christ. A few months before that, I had come to know a saving faith in Christ. My gratefulness overflowed like the grace God extended to both of us. But the loss and emptiness returns. How is that possible?
I think Jesus knew His disciples would feel that deep loss for Him, just like I felt for my mother.
I believe the disciples wrestled with the same heartaches we struggle with today. This world will end, but in the book of Revelation, Jesus promises to return. A new heaven and a new earth will reign. And those who have believed, we will live with Him forever.
When His time had come, He willingly went to the cross.
He sacrificed His life so we could live with God forever.
As I enjoy the opportunity to slow down and visualize the truths of Scripture, I sketch prominent words from the Bible passage that I want to remember, and I thank the Lord for Jesus, God’s Son, who brings the free gift of eternal life to all who will believe and confess His name to the world.
My time has not yet come. But it is in His hands. I will leave it there, knowing I have a home in heaven whenever the end arrives.

GOSPEL OF JOHN SERIES:
This series began at my Grace Church and a women’s Precepts Bible Study in 2018. In March of 2019, an INSTAGRAM post prompt through the Gospel of John intrigued me. In all enthusiasm I plunged into the challenge. I still tweak and add notes and study the book of John in the early morning hours and create the art coloring pages.
I hope you enjoy your search through the scriptures, and in the folds of the meaningful thoughts of each photograph. Video and time-lapse photography illustrate art drawing process.
