Romans 8:12-17
Privileged: No Reservations.
The Bible is a wealth of wisdom and knowledge. But means nothing unless you have a living relationship with the Lord of the universe.
At one time in my life, I sought only knowledge from this book. I wanted to know why God allowed such pain and misery and horror in the world. I couldn’t understand how privileged some people were and how some could go hungry and not have enough money to make it to the end of the month.
First hand experience, I had 47 cents for three days at the end of the month before I would be paid by the university. I bought one can of tuna and made it last.
Still, I didn’t know Jesus. I didn’t know the privilege of a relationship with the living God.
Oh, I know. He still allows poverty and hunger. We still see misery and pain in the world.
But, I know what a privileged life I have as a child of the King of Kings. I am blessed to be part of God’s family. This message gave three major points:
The privilege of breaking free from out past failures.
The privilege to belong to the family of God.
The truth that everyone has the privilege of “coming to Jesus” without reservation.
I understand what that means today. I learned these truths while waiting for God to show up and proved himself in a little campus town church when I was 19 years old.
The pastor said then, and my pastor said today,
We are guaranteed sonship in the family of God and the only possible loss . . . is our sin.
I chose family.
Now I have family to turn to when life throws uncertainty and hardship.
Now I have a friend in Jesus to lean on.
I am loved, saved, privileged, liberated, emancipated, and comforted.
